Warriors Lose Kristaps Porzingis for Training Camp
Warriors Lose Kristaps Porzingis for Training Camp after the veteran center developed an unspecified health issue Sunday morning.
Kristaps Porzingis will miss Golden State’s training camp in Hawaii after the team learned about his health issue.
General manager Mike Dunleavy said Porzingis is out indefinitely, though he avoided describing the problem as long-term currently.
Porzingis had worked out at Chase Center recently and apparently experienced no reported problems before Sunday’s update.
His absence adds uncertainty because Golden State already expects significant absences from Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody.
Kristaps Porzingis Status Remains Unclear
Kristaps Porzingis will not travel with the Warriors to Hawaii, where the team begins its week-long training camp.
Steve Kerr described the development as surprising while indicating the coaching staff expects Porzingis back eventually this season.
Golden State has not provided a specific timetable, leaving his availability for opening night unresolved at present.
Dunleavy also declined to rule out Porzingis playing when the Warriors open against the Lakers October 21.
That timeline gives Porzingis several weeks to recover, although the nature of his current issue remains undisclosed publicly.
Butler And Moody Continue Rehabilitation
Jimmy Butler continues rehabilitation after suffering a torn ACL that ended his 2025-26 season prematurely during spring.
Moses Moody also remains sidelined while rehabbing a torn patellar tendon suffered during Golden State’s previous campaign.
Both players are expected to miss significant time, leaving Golden State without two important wing contributors initially.
The Warriors therefore entered camp knowing their rotation needed adjustments before the regular season begins this October.
Porzingis Faces Another Health Interruption
Kristaps Porzingis played only 32 games last season after joining Golden State following February’s trade deadline from Atlanta.
He averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks across those 32 appearances overall.
Golden State later re-signed Porzingis to a two-year contract worth $40 million during the offseason.
His latest setback now creates another variable for a team already managing several important health-related absences.
Warriors Prepare For Camp Without Porzingis
Golden State will begin camp without Porzingis while monitoring his condition and awaiting further medical updates.
The Warriors have not announced whether Porzingis will participate before their regular-season opener against Los Angeles.
Until then, other front court players could receive additional preparation opportunities during practices and preseason competition.
