The Voice’ Season 30 Changes How Fans Can Vote
The Voice’ Season 30 Unveils Major Voting Changes for Live Shows
LOS ANGELES — NBC’s long-running singing competition The Voice has officially introduced sweeping changes to how fans can cast votes during Season 30.
As the milestone season kicks off with six weeks of live shows simulcast on NBC and Peacock, the network is revamping the fan-voting experience to feature new digital and social integration, real-time results, and tighter voting windows.
New Ways to Vote: SMS Texting and TikTok Integration
For Season 30, viewers will vote using two updated primary channels:
- SMS Text Voting: Fans can vote directly via text message by sending an artist’s name to an official on-screen code shared during the broadcast. Viewers can support multiple singers, though each vote must be submitted in an individual text message.
- Official TikTok Voting: NBC has partnered with TikTok for a social voting mechanism. The Voice will post a pinned thread on its official TikTok account listing eligible contestants. Fans can cast votes by commenting an artist’s name on the designated post.
| Voting Method | How It Works | Key Requirement |
| SMS / Text Message | Text artist name to on-screen code | Send individual texts for each contestant |
| TikTok Comments | Comment artist name on pinned official post | Separate comment per vote |
Real-Time Results & Simulcast Restrictions

In another major shift, live show episodes will be simulcast across all time zones on both NBC and Peacock. Because voting results will now be announced on the same night as live performances, only votes cast during the original East Coast broadcast window will count toward the official tally. Non-East Coast viewers will need to watch the live stream to ensure their votes are registered before voting windows close.
Additional Season 30 Format Twists
Beyond the revamped voting system, NBC has introduced several major twists to the competition structure for Season 30:
- The “First-In Button”: Introduced during Blind Auditions, this one-time-use feature allows the coach who turns their chair first during a multi-chair turn to automatically secure the contestant before they can select another coach.
- “Cut Week”: Billed as the largest elimination in the series’ history, coaches will advance two singers straight to the live shows, while five remaining team members battle for one final spot.
- The Fan-Voted 13th Spot: After coaches lock in their Top 12 contestants, home viewers will vote one final wild-card artist into the live shows to round out the Top 13.
