The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed Monday that detectives are officially investigating Gerber’s passing as a “suspected overdose,” though authorities noted there is currently no indication of foul play.

Emergency personnel responded to a 911 dispatch reporting a possible overdose and cardiac arrest at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica around 9:35 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Paramedics pronounced Gerber dead at the scene shortly after arrival.

Records from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner listed the location of death as the sober living center. An autopsy has been completed, but the official cause and manner of death remain deferred pending toxicology results and further administrative review.
