A 6-year-old Louisiana boy survived a stabbing attack and ran to a neighbor for help after four people were killed in Houma, reports say.
A six-year-old Louisiana boy wounded in a deadly stabbing spree managed to escape the home and reach a neighbor for help, a desperate act that family members and others have hailed as remarkably brave.
The child was found with apparent stab wounds after deputies responded to a series of violent incidents in Houma on Saturday, September 12. Four adults were later found dead in nearby homes, according to authorities and reports.
Despite his injuries, the young boy got out and made his way to a neighbor, who called for emergency assistance. He was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
His survival has become one of the few hopeful details to emerge from a tragedy that devastated a Louisiana family.
Boy’s race for help
Investigators say deputies initially encountered the injured child after responding to reports of multiple stabbing incidents in the Ashland Drive area.

Four people killed in Houma
The violence claimed the lives of four people, according to relatives and reports: Verna Mae Verdin, her daughter Letha Verret, her son Paul Verret and Paul’s partner, Krissy Lynn Parfait.
Authorities initially did not publicly release the victims’ names, but relatives later identified them through local media. The victims were found in homes in the Ashland Drive area, according to investigators.
The wounded boy was reportedly Verdin’s grandson and had been staying with family that night.
That detail has made his escape especially painful for relatives. He was not simply caught in a violent scene; he was a child surrounded by the loss of multiple family members.
Suspect faces murder charges
Authorities arrested 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet after an hours-long search. He was later charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, according to reporting published after his arrest.
Solet had previously been identified by authorities as a person of interest while investigators searched for him.
Fox News reported that Solet had previously faced criminal allegations involving stabbings, although those earlier cases did not result in convictions.
Authorities have continued investigating what led to the latest violence and whether additional evidence could shed light on the sequence of events.
