Daredevil: Born Again’ to End With Season 3 at Disney+

LOS ANGELES — The Man Without Fear is hanging up his cowl on Disney+. Marvel Studios has confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again, starring Charlie Cox as blind lawyer-turned-vigilante Matt Murdock, will officially wrap up its run with its upcoming third season.

The decision brings a definitive conclusion to the Disney+ revival series, which has served as a direct continuation of the character’s journey that first began on Netflix in 2015.

Season 3 Wraps Production Amid Creative Departures

Principal photography on the third season officially wrapped two months ago, with the final eight-episode installment scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.

However, the announcement arrives alongside significant behind-the-scenes restructuring. Marvel Studios has parted ways with showrunner and executive producer Dario Scardapane (The Punisher), whose contract expired and was not renewed as the show moved through post-production.

Scardapane originally took over showrunner duties following a major creative overhaul in late 2023, steering the series through its first two seasons before the studio opted to streamline its television division.

Full ‘Defenders’ Reunion Set for Final Arc

Season 3 promises to deliver a massive crossover event for fans of Marvel’s street-level universe. The final storyline—set six months after Matt Murdock’s secret identity was exposed and he was imprisoned at the end of Season 2—will bring back several fan-favorite characters from the Netflix era:

  • Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones
  • Mike Colter as Luke Cage
  • Finn Jones as Danny Rand / Iron Fist
  • Élodie Yung as Elektra Natchios
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin

The multi-hero team-up will pit the reunited Defenders against a power vacuum in New York, exploring Wilson Fisk’s exile alongside new threats like Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter (Bullseye) and Heather Glenn taking up the mantle of Muse.

Marvel Shifts Live-Action Streaming Strategy

The end of Daredevil: Born Again reflects a broader recalibration at Marvel Television. As Disney reduces its overall output of live-action streaming series, the studio is shifting away from long-running multi-season shows in favor of focused, limited series projects.

While Season 3 will mark the end of the standalone Born Again series, industry insiders report Marvel will maintain three to five live-action projects in active development at any given time, leaving the door open for characters like Daredevil to appear in future MCU film or television crossovers.
