Kelce addressed the issue during the October 1 episode of Not Gonna Lie, explaining that she wanted to show proper respect.
Why Kylie Kelce Issued the Apology
Kelce previously invited the Princess of Wales onto her podcast during an episode released September 24.
While extending the invitation, she referred to Catherine as “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge,” titles that no longer apply formally.
After learning more about royal protocol, Kelce returned to the subject and acknowledged her mistake.
She explained that she now understands the preferred formal references and intends to use them going forward.

Kelce’s original invitation centered on several interests she believes she shares with Catherine.
Both women have connections to motherhood and field hockey, giving Kelce several possible topics for their potential conversation.
The invitation also referenced the existing connection between their husbands through the popular New Heights podcast.
Prince William appeared on Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast earlier this year, creating an unusual connection between both families.
The Royal Connection Goes Back Further
The Kelces and the royal family previously crossed paths during Taylor Swift’s London concert in 2024.
Prince William attended the event with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, where the family met members of the Kelce family.
That earlier meeting helped establish a connection before William later appeared on New Heights.
Consequently, Kelce’s podcast invitation followed several public interactions involving their families.
Would Catherine Accept the Invitation?
Kelce acknowledged that she does not expect Catherine to immediately accept her podcast invitation.
She said she understands the Princess of Wales has significant responsibilities and emphasized that Catherine owes her nothing.
Still, Kelce explained that she would welcome the opportunity to discuss parenting, sports and other shared interests.

Kelce also responded to criticism about her use of profanity during the podcast.
She agreed that she would adjust her language if Catherine eventually appeared as a guest.
At the same time, Kelce defended her usual personality while stressing that she understands different situations require different approaches.
Catherine’s Formal Royal Title
Catherine became the Princess of Wales after Prince William received the Prince of Wales title in September 2022.
Her formal title is Catherine, Princess of Wales, although Kate Middleton remains a widely recognized name worldwide.
Kelce’s apology therefore focused on correcting her formal address rather than withdrawing her invitation.
For now, the podcast invitation remains open, while Kelce appears realistic about whether Catherine will participate.
