Texas Killer’s Final Statement Sent to Fellow Prisoners

A Texas man executed for a 2005 triple murder used his final words to address fellow death row inmates before lethal injection.

A Texas man convicted in a tragic triple murder addressed his fellow death row inmates in his final statement shortly before his execution. He expressed gratitude to those he spent nearly two decades alongside in prison, offering a personal message during his final moments inside the state’s execution chamber.

The execution proceeded after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a final appeal, bringing an end to a case stemming from a violent 2005 home invasion.

A Last Message From the Execution Chamber

Before prison officials administered the lethal dose of pentobarbital, the inmate offered final words that focused heavily on his time behind bars. Reflected in his statement was an acknowledgment of the individuals who influenced him during his long incarceration.

He addressed the inmates he grew up alongside, expressing appreciation for their guidance during his young adulthood while serving time.

Addressing those on death row, his final message included:

  • Expressions of Gratitude: Thanking fellow prisoners for pouring into his life and offering guidance.
  • Reflections on Youth: Noting that he entered the correctional system at a young age without understanding adulthood.
  • Acknowledge of Support: Offering thanks to close friends, family members, and spiritual supporters who stood by him.

Shortly after delivering his statement, the lethal dose was administered, and medical staff pronounced him dead minutes later.

Details Behind the 2005 Crime

The execution stems from an August 2005 robbery that turned fatal inside a residential home in Edna, Texas. Armed invaders wearing masks entered the residence believing money and illicit substances were stored on the property.

During the confrontation, three individuals inside the home—aged 18, 24, and 38—were shot and killed.

Final Appeals Denied by High Court

Attorneys representing the inmate sought a last-minute stay of execution from the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that original trial jurors were never presented with significant mitigating evidence regarding his childhood background, including claims of severe poverty and early physical abuse.

The Supreme Court declined to intervene, clearing the way for state authorities to carry out the death sentence as scheduled. The execution followed just days after his co-defendant was also put to death for involvement in the same 2005 triple homicide.
