Iran warns of ‘astonishing’ arsenal and new targets if US launches fresh military strikes
TEHRAN — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a stern warning on Monday, threatening to deploy an “astonishing” array of advanced weapons and strike previously untouched targets across the Middle East if the United States launches further military attacks against the Islamic Republic.
The escalation comes amid a volatile standoff in the Persian Gulf, where Washington and Tehran remain locked in high-stakes confrontations following a series of retaliatory missile strikes and U.S. naval operations enforcing blockades near the critical Strait of Hormuz.
In a joint statement released by military commanders, Iranian defense forces warned regional nations against allowing American troops to use their airspace, land, or facilities to stage aggression against Iranian territory.
Tehran vows ‘painful and effective’ response
Iranian military officials claimed that Washington has miscalculated Tehran’s defense capabilities, asserting that any fresh strike from U.S. forces would trigger a “continuous, effective, and painful” retaliation.
“Do not test the resolve of Iran’s armed forces again,” senior commanders warned in the statement, adding that the IRGC and Iranian army are prepared to deploy previously unrevealed military hardware to strike the precise source of any incoming assault.
The statement follows recent U.S. strikes targeting Iranian missile launchers near Larak Island and retaliatory strikes launched by Tehran targeting facilities hosting U.S. personnel in neighboring Gulf nations.
Escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz
The latest exchange underscores the fragility of the broader military conflict between Washington and Tehran. While President Donald Trump has maintained that the U.S. exercises total operational control over the Strait of Hormuz to squeeze Iranian oil exports, Tehran continues to dispute the claim, maintaining its own blockades and restricting maritime traffic through the strategic waterway.
With global energy markets on edge and international powers urging restraint, Iranian leadership maintains that any future U.S. offensive action will be met with an immediate and unprecedented military escalation across the region.
