Sophie Cunningham Makes Major Podcast Change

Sophie Cunningham launches No Hesitation with Drew Hanlen after her former podcast co-host took an opposing view on transgender athletes in sports.

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has officially entered a new chapter in her podcast career, launching a new show with basketball trainer Drew Hanlen after her previous podcast partnership with West Wilson ended.

Cunningham and Hanlen debuted “No Hesitation” on Thursday, replacing “Show Me Something,” the podcast Cunningham previously hosted alongside Wilson, a personality known for his appearance on “Summer House.” According to OutKick, the former show stopped releasing episodes during the summer, while its social media accounts and YouTube channel were subsequently rebranded as “No Hesitation.”

The change comes amid a public disagreement between Cunningham and Wilson over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.

Cunningham and former co-host held opposing views

The podcast transition followed Wilson publicly expressing a position that differed from Cunningham’s stance on transgender participation in women’s athletics.

Wilson described transgender participation in American sports as a “borderline non-existent issue” and criticized what he characterized as disproportionate attention from conservatives, politicians, athletes and news organizations. Cunningham, meanwhile, has repeatedly defended her belief that women’s sports should protect female athletes.

Cunningham has said she believes women and girls should not be required to compete against biological males and has emphasized that her position is about protecting young female athletes.

“I said what I said. I think it’s common sense,” Cunningham said in July, according to OutKick.

However, there is an important distinction surrounding the podcast change: neither Cunningham, Wilson nor The Volume has publicly confirmed that their disagreement over transgender athletes caused Wilson’s departure. OutKick reported that the parties have not formally explained why the previous partnership ended.

New podcast focuses on basketball

Rather than revisiting the dispute, Cunningham and Hanlen used the debut episode of “No Hesitation” to emphasize basketball.

Cunningham said she wanted a platform centered on honest basketball discussion, arguing that there was a lack of media and social-media programming focused specifically on the sport.

Hanlen also addressed the public perception surrounding Cunningham, suggesting that her comments are often amplified after she simply answers questions about her views.

“Stop asking me questions if you don’t want the truth,” Cunningham responded.

The conversation also moved into criticism of WNBA media coverage and award voting. Cunningham argued that popularity and politics can sometimes influence how players are perceived, while calling for greater attention to the league’s on-court product.

“I think there’s a lot of people who are really, really great who don’t get the credit because maybe they don’t have the popularity or they don’t have the platform,” Cunningham said.

Sophie Cunningham wants the focus back on basketball

Cunningham’s latest podcast launch comes after a summer in which she became a central figure in the WNBA’s debate over transgender athletes and women’s sports.

She has insisted that she does not hate transgender people and has said she believes there is room to support and respect everyone. At the same time, she has maintained that the rights, safety and opportunities of female athletes should be protected.

Her comments have attracted significant attention, including criticism and support from different sides of the debate. Earlier reporting also showed Cunningham calling for a greater focus on basketball as controversy surrounding her comments continued.

With “No Hesitation,” Cunningham appears ready to shift the conversation toward the game itself.

The new podcast is expected to focus on film study, basketball strategy and personalities within professional basketball, with new episodes scheduled for Thursdays.

For Cunningham, the podcast change represents more than a new co-host. It gives the Indiana Fever guard a fresh platform at a time when her public profile has grown significantly both on and off the court.
