Dolly Parton’s Nephew Fired From Longtime Security Role Amid Escalating Estate Dispute
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Less than a month after country music icon Dolly Parton passed away at age 80, an internal rift over her estimated $450 million estate has spilled into public view following the abrupt firing of her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver.
Seaver, who served as Parton’s head of security for over two years and was chosen by the family to publicly announce her passing in August 2026, was served a termination notice removing him and his private security firm from all properties associated with the late superstar.
Sudden Security Overhaul Across Nashville Properties
According to court and termination documents obtained by TMZ, the dismissal took effect immediately, with new third-party security teams deployed to take control of Parton’s primary residential home in Nashville, her personal museum, corporate offices, and storage facilities.
The termination notice specifies that all business operations and real estate assets are held under the DP Dean Trust. While Seaver has been stripped of his administrative and operational responsibilities, the notice clarified that his individual beneficiary interest in the trust remains intact.
| Entity / Property | Action Taken |
| Primary Nashville Residence | Existing security cleared; replacement team deployed |
| Dolly Parton Museum & Warehouse | Access revoked for Seaver’s security firm |
| DP Dean Trust | Issued termination notice; beneficiary rights remain active |
Nephew Alleges Actions Taken in ‘Bad Faith’
In a statement responding to the termination, Seaver and his team directed criticism toward Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, and financial trustee Pinnacle Bank, expressing shock over the decision.
“We are dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions taken since Dolly’s passing,” Seaver said in a statement. “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”
High Stakes Surrounding the Parton Estate
Parton passed away on August 25, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer, leaving behind an extensive entertainment empire that includes her master recording catalog, publishing rights, and her lucrative stake in the Dollywood theme park empire.
Because Parton had no children, industry observers anticipated complex administrative transitions regarding her trust and intellectual property. Representation for the estate and Pinnacle Bank have not publicly commented on the ongoing management transition.
